WILLIAM, Ipswich, m. 1675, then aged 22, the w. Sarah, whose surname
had not been heard, had William, b. 1 June 1677; Thomas, and Ralph,
tw. 15 Sept. 1682, of wh. Ralph d. May 1684; was freem. 1682, and
liv. 1708, as was his s. William.

    BUTMAN, JEREMIAH, Salem, may not be kn. exc. as a creditor of est.
of Henry Harwood, dec. 1671. See Essex Inst. II. 70. JOHN, Gloucester,
m. 30 June 1690, Sarah, d. of Abraham Robinson, the sec. had Jeremiah,
b. early in 1691; a d. 1693; Mary, 1697; Hannah, 1700; John, 1703; Jonathan,
1708; and Samuel, 1711.

    BUTT or BUTTS, NATHANIEL, Dorchester, s. prob. eldest, of Richard,
m. 16 Sept. 1698, Elizabeth d. of capt. John Breck, and d. 10 Dec. 1721, of
smallpox; but, whether he had issue, is not kn. His wid. d. 20 Oct.
1743, aged 67. RICHARD, Dorchester, by w. Deliverance, wh. d. 22
July 1699, aged 74, had Jerebiah, or Sherebiah, b. 18 Sept. 1675; but,
as this is the first appeaer. of the surname in D. he may have had other
ch. in ano. town bef. rem. thither, where were bapt. Barachiah, and
Hannah, tw. 11 Jan. 1680; Mary, 2 July 1682; and Joseph, 18 May
1684. From the gr.stone of this last, we find that he d. 29 Mar. 1713.
Older ch. than Sherebiah were Nathaniel and Samuel, yet neither is nam.
in the will of the f. made 30 July 1690, bec. "going forth a soldier in the
present exped. against the French," i. e. the abortive crusade to Quebec.
It was not pro. until 8 Feb. 1694, for it made Deliverance, the w. extrix.
and gave her all his prop. but to the ch. at her discret. Admin. de bonis
non was giv. 1699 to Sherebiah. His mo. I presume, had been wid.
Woodward (tho. name and resid. of h. are unkn.) for the rec. at the ch.
is "26 May 1678, was the w. of R. B. bapt. being lately adm. a mem.
At the same time her childr. bapt. whose names are Smith Woodward,
Nathaniel, Samuel, Sherebiah, and Elizabeth" the last four, prob. being Butts.

    BUTTELS, LEONARD, Boston 1643, had w. Judith. Prob. the same
as Buttolph.

    BUTTER or BUTTERS, ISAAC, Medfield, freem. 1666. WILLIAM,
Woburn, by w. Rebecca had William, b. 18 Sept. 1689, very soon;
William, again, 24 Mar. 1691, d. young; Rebecca, 10 Oct. 1693, d.
young; Lydia, 11 June 1695; Rebecca, again, 30 Aug. 1698; and perhaps
he rem.

    BUTTERFIELD, BENJAMIN, Charlestown 1638, project. sett. at Woburn
1640, with others, was freem. 1643, had Mary, prob. other ch.
(perhaps b. in Eng.) and here Nathaniel, 14 Feb. 1643; Samuel, 17
May 1647; Joseph, 15 Aug. 1649; rem. 1654, to Chelmsford, where his
w. Ann d. 19 May 1660. He m. 3 June 1663, Hannah, wid. of Thomas
Whittemore
of Malden. Prob. he is anc. of the many wh. bear this
