This Indenture made 3d June one thousand seven hundred & sixty nine Between Alexander Montgomery Planter & Martha [1]his wife of the Province of North Carolina in the County of Orange of the one part & Mary Montgomery Widow of the County & Province aforesaid of the other part, Know ye for divers good causes & more especially for the consideration of forty two pounds Proclimation money of this Province in hand paid to the said Alexr Montgomery before or at the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt hereof I do give grant confirm release & ratify unto Mary Montgomery above named her heirs or assigns forever one tract or Parcel of Land left to me the said Alexander Montgomery by the will & Testament of Alexander Montgomery ____ date 27th July 1767 containing one hundred & Seventy acres of Land at the lower end of the Tract that the said Mary Montgomery lives on including the Plantation where Alexander Montgomery now possesses but no lines yet run to devide the possessions & all the Estate Right & Title Use & property Interest or claim of us the Said Alexander Montgomery & Martha Montgomery our heirs or assigns of or unto the premises & the Reversion & Remainder of all & singular tenances, To have & To hold the 170 acres according to the directions of the above named Will, and all other Premises above mentioned & intended to be hereby granted unto the said Mary Montgomery her heirs forever to the only use of the said Mary Montgomery & her heirs forever against the said Alexander Montgomery & Martha Montgomery & their Heirs claiming any Right by or from us or any other Person or Persons whatsoever We do warrant and defend forever by these Presents In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands & seals this 3d day of June 1769.

April 6 1770 The execution of the within deed was proved in open Court by the oath of Michael Montgomery one of the suscribing witnesses thereto & ordered to be registered.
