Historical accounts of Yesler give two names for his mother - Catherine Stotler and Catherine Leiter. Source 5 shows the evidence for the Stotler ID - a marriage to Henry Yesler in 1810, and a reference in a history of the local area. However, the Leiter ID is chosen here for three reasons. First, all sources that list a middle name for Henry L. Yesler say that it is Leiter. Second, sources also agree that Henry's nephew James Lowman came to Seattle in 1877 at Henry's invitation and helped him deal with his estate. James is the son of Daniel S., who is the son of Daniel -- and Catherine Leiter. Leiter sources tie Catherine to her father (the founder of Leitersburg, again consistent with stories about Yesler's origins), a first husband John Leiter, and then Daniel, all of which is consistent with the short and possibly non-existant marriage to Henry Yesler. Third, the birth record in Maryland, gives the parents as Henry Yesler and Katherine Leiter. --Amelia 04:38, 18 October 2014 (UTC)
