mixture of two people [9 January 2012]
That there are two sets of parents which is always a good clue that two people are being mixed up, but the evidence also says this in this case.
Source:Mayflower Descendant, p. 23:165, has an article on the will of Jonathan Phinney who married Joanna Kinnicut. His will mentions his daughter Elizabeth Bradford, wife of David Bradford. She m. (2) Benjamin Ludden in Kingston, but was not born in Kingston. The article says her father lived in Bristol and later Swansea.
The Barnstable VRs (also in Mayflower Descendant, p. 11:131) shows that the daughter of John Phinney & Sarah Lombard named Elizabeth was born 11 Apr 1690, the date shown on this page. She was not born in Kingston either, and not the wife of David Bradford, obviously. --Jrich 11:18, 8 June 2011 (EDT)
- Because this source is itself often cited, I note that Elizabeth Phinney, b. Kingston, Mass., 4 April 1690, d. Harwinton, Conn., 30 Jan. 1786, m. Nathan Davis 5 Nov. 1714, is listed, without citation, in the pedigree of Mitt Romney, providing his Mayflower connection (through paternal grandmother Mary Rogers Phinney; Romney is listed as a descendant of Nathan and Elizabeth's child Isaac Davis, b. Barnstable, Mass., 9 Jan. 1720). Both the marriage and Isaac's birth are in VR of Barnstable, p. 21. [1]--Amelia 23:44, 8 January 2012 (EST)
- Well, then, I guess the easiest thing to do is to assume this page is meant to be the wife of Nathan Davis, make that the anchoring identifier, and change the other facts as appropriate. --Jrich 08:46, 9 January 2012 (EST)
- Elizabeth's page says died 30 Jun 1786, above says 30 Jan 1786, and Find A Grave says 30 Dec 1786 with no photo. V. 18 of Barbour Collection doesn't seem to be online if a death record is even to be found there. There is no birth recorded in Kingston for any Elizabeth Phiney/Phinney/Finney. --Jrich 09:27, 9 January 2012 (EST)
