Arthur Campling has this William as the son of John WOMACK and Maria BLAKE but this is wrong.

In his will, William names his father as the late Thomas WOMACK, who had been married to Elizabeth BURLINGHAM and Margaret MURTON, from whom he had purchased some land. Thomas WOMACK's will also mentions a son, William. In his own will, this son also gives evidence to indicate that his father was the son of Thomas WOMACK.

1817 - Norfolk Poll Book records that William owned and occupied land in North Lopham. This qualified him to vote.

1820 - William is named in the will of his father, Thomas, as one of his sons.

1825 - The will of Thomas WOMACK's second wife, Margaret, mentions that the sum of 125 pounds is due to her from her "son-in-law" [i.e. step-son] William WOMACK and also that her son James owes William 40 pounds. Her will arranges to set the 40 pounds against the money owed and allows William to retain the remaining 85 pounds on which interest is due at 4% until it totals 90 pounds. At this point, the sum is to be called in by her executor, Robert WOMACK [presumed to be her son, William's half-brother] and divided equally between 6 WOMACK grandchildren (no step-grandchildren).

1836 - William WOMACK the elder is listed in White's Directory. This is probably him.

1841 - William appears in the census as a farmer, living in North Lopham, apparently widowed, with son John (widowed) and daughter Ann (unmarried). There is a female servant, Mary CORBLE.

1850 - William made his will, dated 12 August. He appointed William WHARTON (son-in-law) and William (son) as his executors. In it William is described as William WOMACK the elder of North Lopham, farmer and linen weaver.

1851 - William is living on the Green at North Lopham, still with son John and Ann. There is also a servant, Eliza WARREN. Farmer of 28 acres employing one man, aged 79, born at North Lopham.

1852 - William's age at death is given as 80 years.

1852 - William's will was proved in the Archdeaconry of Norfolk on 9 September 1852, with a further date of 20 December 1852 also recorded on the office copy. His date of death was recorded on the probate copy.
