Hi Jim - I looked for the census first, did you find them there? If not I found the following: Grand River Twp. 1870 Census Carroll Co., Mo. Winfrey, William 38 KY Nancy 35 Mo. James 15 Mo. Benjamin C 13 Mo. Winfrey Reuben 11 Mo. Clairborne 9 Mo. Mary H. 3 Mo. Alena 2 Mo. I think this Clairborne is yours. Also in the 1850 census of Carroll County is: Winfrey, Benjamin 40 Ky. Matilda O. 37 NC William 17 Ky Flovinda N. 15 Ky Caroline M - 13 Mo Wirifrey , Saludia 5 Mo. I believe this William could be Clairborne's father - We do not have the marriages, but you can write to the courthouse there and ask for it . They probably were married in the 1830's and get Nancy's maiden name - I am sure there have been cemetery books published, but we do not have them. Might try finding a Sen. Soc. there. Let me know if this is the correct family - There were a lot of Winfrey families in Carroll co.
