    SUN CITY W. "BRUCE" WHITMORE 90, was a resident of Huntington Beach but had been a long time resident in San Marcos and Sun City. He passed away January 31, 2009 at the Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center. Bruce was born in Elgin, NE. in 1918, the oldest of three brothers. He served in WWII in the Army Air Corps in the Aleutians; his subsequent career was with the US Post Office, from assistant postmaster to Postal Inspector. He retired in 1973, he was an active member of the Assoc. Of Retired Postal Inspectors for many years, as well as the American Legion. Bruce was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Wilma. He is survived by his sons William B. Jr. (Bill) and wife Tas of Huntington Beach; David Whitmore, his wife Janet and sons David Jr. & Christopher of Lordsburg, NN; a step-daughter, Harriet Brown, husband Kevin and daughter Sherri; his brothers, Dick & Don, and sister-in-law, Virginia George of Orosi, CA.
