TODO: Description: Westfall, Wm Green died after 1919-probably in Oregon or Washington Category: Death Certificate Local: Family History Center Date: 29 Mar 2009 Status: Open Type: 0 Priority: 8 Repository:

Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneerrs application filled out by Gladys (Westfall) King, Mullen. He arrived in Oregon in 1893 born in Jackson City, Virginia. 1900 Colorado census shows he was born in Missouri-I believe that is incorrect. His son, Ora shows that his father was born in West Virginia. So I believe that he was born either in VA or WV. But on Ora's DC is shows his father born in Missouri. 1920 census California shows that Ora's father was born in West Virginia. 1930 census New York shows that his father was born in Virginia. It is still a mystery.

From another family tree by Nate Maas: born 28 Aug 1848 in Jackson Co., W. Virg. died 30 July 1897 married Seraphine 12 Jul 1870 in Lucas Col., Iowa.

Bible transcription says that William was from Clinton, Missouri. William was a teacher in Westfall Oregon per Ellen Blanche King Thibadeau. This is also listed in the book The Westfall Country, he is listed as a teacher in 1907. He was pretty old by then.

On the 1900 US Census he stated he was born in Missouri and his father in Kentucky, mother in Tennessee. None of this matches.

Place of birth from WMS001-It may also have said Jackson City, VA. Then might have been corrected to Jackson Co., VA.

Ora is a farmer-He was born in Missouri, his dad West Virginia. This may be an error since his father is living with him and he listed his birth place as Missouri.
Bessie and Archie Newby's dad was born in England.
Where are Alice (19) and William Newby?
William is listed with G. for his middle name.

Sons and Daughters of Oregon Pioneerrs application filled out by Gladys (Westfall) King, Mullen. He came to Oregon in the 1850's from Virginia.
Note on the back say he was the first settler and father of the town that has his name (Westfall, OR). He left his native West Virginia, then to Clinton, Missouri. An 1850 census show him in Lucas Co. Iowa, wife Elizabeth, an infant daughter Mary Jane who was my maternal grandmother. Then on to E. Oregon sometime in the early 1850's. Levi and Jackson (his brother) are buried in the Westfall cemetery.
