William probably in War of 1812, serving as a private in CAPT JOHN R. LINDSEY'S COMPANY from July 28, until August 28, 1813. He and Margaret married in Scioto Co., and resided in Decatur, Lawrence Co. OH in 1818-1850 census records. He was listed as a farmer in the 1850 census, where his last name was spelled "Shoap" and he is next door to son John. In 1849 he purchased 42 acres in section 4 of nearby Symmes township. The last mention of him is in 1858 in a land deal with daughter Rhoda. In 1860 Margaret is living with her daughters and divorced (brother?) Timothy Call and his son. She was living with daughter Mahala and family in 1870.
