a "Geberal" Shope in 1787 tax list B of Berkeley Co., [West] Virginia. Gabriel and Polly possibly lived in PA when Rosanna was born, according to Rosanna's daughter's census record of 1880 which lists her mother's birplace as PA. However, according to son's John and William's census records, the family lived in VA, ending up in Scioto County OH by about 1810, probably without Gabriel.
