William H. Seaver of Providence, Rhode Island served in the Union Army in the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private on 21 August 1861 in Company E, 3rd Heavy Artillery Regiment of Rhode Island. He was absent sick on 11 March 1862 at Hilton Head SC. He received a disability discharge on 24 May 1862 in Hilton Head SC ("Military Records of Individual Civil War Soldiers," compiled by Historical Data Systems, online database viewed at www.ancestry.com).
