Wm. Partridge of Salisbury in N. E. did constitute Mr. Ri: Dummer of Newbury his true & lawful attorney granting him full power &c. to ask levie &c. of the Executor of the last will and test: of John Partridge late of Olney in Buckinghamshire a certain legacy bequeathed to the children of the said Wm & of the receipt to give acquittance &c.: also to compound agree & in any court or courts to sue implead &c.: & generally to do all things &c.: with power to substitute &c. These papers indicate that Richard Dummer was personally intending to take a journey to old England to pursue his son's inheritance and that William Partridge took advantage of Dummer's availability to prosecute a similar claim for the Partridge children.
