Personal History

William Overton, (first) son of Thomas Overton of Felton, tile maker, by Elizabeth[2] Fowler,[1] was baptized on 29 March 1846, in the parish of Felton, Northumberland, England[2] (the birth was registered in the district of Alnwick[1]).

On 22 October 1880, William Overton, a native of England, appeared before a judge of the probate court of Stark co., Ohio, to declare his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America, having arrived in the country about April 1871.[5] He later appeared in the probate court in Canton, Ohio, on 21 November 1882, then a resident of Stark County, to take the oath and be admitted a citizen. John R. Dangler gave oath on William's status and character.[6]
