MARRIED: 1797 -- June 7, William Murdock married Susannah Gray, daughterof Robert Gray. Her brother, Andrew Gray, was the bondsman (OrangeCounty, NC Marriage Book). LEGAL: 1802 -- December 28, Elizabeth Murdock deeded 177 acres on theNorth Fork of the Little River to her son, William, for Ð177 (OrangeCounty, NC Deed Book 12, page 316). LEGAL: 1810 -- November 12, Robert Murdock of Randolph County, son ofJohn who died in 1781, deeded 120 acres on the South side of the LittleRiver to his uncles, James and William Murdock, for $600. This was thesame land that James and Elizabeth deeded to his father in 1778. It was apart of the original land grant from Lord Granville (Orange County, NCDeed Book 15, page 396). LEGAL: 1825 -- February 24, William Murdock deeded to Robert Murdock,trustee, 120 acres that William and James, Jr. bought from Robert in 1810and 127 acres on the waters of the Little River. Robert was to sell theland for "ready money" to pay off a note due Alexander Gray for $275.Gray had held the note since June 14, 1823 (Orange County, NC Deed Book21, page 367). LEGAL: 1829 -- January 23, William Murdock deeded 177 acres on the NorthFork of the Little River to John Wilson for $500. This was the 177 acresthat William got from his mother in 1802 (Orange County, NC Deed Book 23,page 389). LEGAL: 1843 -- January 20, a Deed of Trust was recorded. The party of thefirst part was William Murdock, the party of the second part was CharlesWilson, trustee, and the party of the third part was Alexander Dickson.William Murdock owed Dickson $84.45. Wilson was to sell 60 acres on theSouth side of the North Fork of the Little River at public auction. hewas to pay off Dickson and give the rest to Murdock (Orange County, NCDeed Book 30, page 73). LEGAL: 1843 -- October 18, William Murdock deeded to John Wilson 55 acreson the South side of the Little River. This was the same land as in theDeed of trust of January 20, 1843 (Orange County, NC Deed Book 30, page339). |
