According to his Declaration of Intention, petition for naturalization, filed in the U. S. Circuit Court, Southern District of the State of New York, William McEnery, 24-year-old salesman, with white hair, fair complexion, 5' 10', weighing 175 lbs., with brown hair and blue eyes, was born in Limerick, Ireland, 15 March 1885, and was at the time residing at 69 Madison Avenue, New York. He emigrated from Queenstown, on the Cyriac, and arrived at Boston on or about 19 June 1906. His petition for naturalization, filed 9 August 1911, says that he has resided continually in the United States since 19 June 1906. He was granted citizenship on 5 March 1912.

On the ship manifest for the Cyriac, arriving at Boston 17 June 1906, 24-year-old William McEnery, whose last residence is given as Manchester, New York, said that he was going to his cousin, Kate McEnery, at 31 East 60th St., New York. He had paid his own passage, and had $13 on him.

This is possibly the 36-year-old Kate McEnery who was a servant in the William H. Hofstadt residence at 250 West 128th St., Manhattan, at the time of the 1905 New York State Census, who had been in the United States for 11 years, and was an alien.

In 1922 he applied for a passport for him and his wife Anna McEnery. He swears that he was born in Newcastle West, County Limerick, Ireland, September 1882; that his father Thomas was born in Ireland and was residing there; that he sailed from Queenstown about June 1906; that he was naturalized at the U.S. State Court for the Southern District of New York on 5 March 1912; that he is a salesman whose permanent address is 1710 Putnam Ave. in the State of Michigan. He intends to sail from New York on the S. S. Laconia on July 5th, 1922. His age is given as 40. His wife Anna was born in Ireland March 1885.
