REFN: 713 Notes by 2nd Great Grand daughter Doris B McDaniel. Billie was brought to America by his parents at age 9, his wife Betty was also brought to America by her parents at age 7. This has been found to maybe be wrong. William McDaniel was born in 1787 in the State of Virginia. According to verbal information obtained in the 1960's from the Rainwater family of Pulaski county Ky. The Rainwaters are descendants of William's sister Polly McDaniel.

At age 22 he married Elizabeth Weaver on the 12th day of January, 1809. After the war of 1812 broke out, William enlisted in Captain James Hunters company of the 17th Regiment of Kentucky Regulars commanded by Colonel Wills and Major Croghan on or about May first, 1812 in Somerset, Kentucky. He served a term of 18 months and was honorably discharged at Cincinnati on the first day of November 1813. One report states that he become attached to Hunter's company in the spring of 1813 at Newport, Kentucky.

During his term he was stationed with his command in Canada and was in a skirmish on the Sandusky River. William was in Fort Stephenson at the time it was defended by Colonel Croghen and aided in its defense. He was an orderly sargent "The Life of William McDaniel" by Robert McDaniel. I have this on MSWord file of 24 pages. Will send it, if requested, because it, just makes the file harder to handle. kennymercer@@hotmail.com or Kenneth Mercer, 2798 W Mercer Dr, Pendleton IN 46064
