Grand Traverse Herald 22 May 1882 says: In the fall of the following year (1859) J. R. Burr and Edward Neil became residents of the colony. Among those who came in 1860 ......There were also, at this time, several young unmarried persons in the settlement. The first wedding took place in June, the contracting parties being Mr. Hugh Marsh and Miss Emily Burr. (Hugh Marsh son of William) Emily Burr daughter of Charles Burr, sister to the other Burr.
