William went to Tennessee. Perhaps this William came to Blount County and was confused with their Uncle William Lowry and/or William McClellan Lowry. </P>

The Blount County Census of 1830 lists two William Lowrys in the 40 to 50 year age group.

A petition filed in Tennessee State Archives, "The petition of John Montgomery of Blount County 1826 Landsuits" asking for redress of land suits has around a thousand signatures, including those of James R. Lowry, John M. Lowry, Wm. Lowry, and William M. Lowry.
