John Montgomery Lowry was in Blount County before 1795. He practiced law in Maryville before 1800, was a Justice of the Peace and represented the county in the State Legislature 1809, 1817 and 1827. He was associated with his cousin John Montgomery in real estate transactions. He is marked as a land owner in Maryville's first city map. (from John and Esther Houston Montgomery, 1719 to 1974.)</P>
