William received a degree in Civil Engineering from M.I.T in 1916 and became an instructor there. He was drafted into the U.S. Cavalry in July 1918 and served at Ft. Knox, KY. At the Ft. Knox gate at his discharge, William was handed a circular on Christian Science which then became the cornerstone of his life and that of his family. In about 1935 he parted with M.I.T. and worked for the Dept. of the Interior doing surveying in NJ, CA, and GA, and settled in Arlington, VA. He died suddenly in 1964.
