3. WILLIAM2 KELSAY (JOHN1) was born 1739 in Allenwood, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, and died July 08, 1805 in Washington County, Tennessee. He married AGNES NANCY GOWDY April 02, 1764 in Allenwood, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. She was born Abt. 1743, and died October 1795 in Washington County, Tennessee.

Notes for WILLIAM KELSAY: William Kelsay, born 1739 in Allenwood, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. In this same county on April 2, 1754, William married Nancy Agnes Gowdy, daughter of William and Susannah (Boyd) Gowdy. William served as First Lieutenant in Company I of the First York County Pennsylvania Battalion in the Revolutionary War from 1776 through 1779 This company was made up of men from Manallen Township in York County. William became the last of his family to leave Pennsylvania on February 1, 1779 when he sold his York County estate. By December 1781 he is listed as a resident of Rockbridge County, Virginia. By 1787 he has again moved, this time settling in Washington County, Tennessee (which at this period called the Northwest Territory of North Carolina), where he is listed on the tax list as owning 300 acres of land. His farm was on Big Limestone Creek, In 1793 Major William Kelsay was appointed to parole Sullivan County, Tennessee. Nancy Agnes died in Washington County in October of 1795; William died there in May of 1805. All but one of their six children remained in Tennessee.
