[William Hawkins was one of the early settlers at Cambridge City, Indiana and original owner of most of the land on which the town has been built. It was entered in 1813, by his father [John], who did not live to occupy it. Nor did William, his son, to whom the land ascended make any material improvements on it until peace had been made with the Indians in 1814.]
