Letter from James Hawkins, probably written in South Carolina, dated 9 July 1810 to his father, John Hawkins senior; mother; brothers & sisters in Wayne County, Indiana - advises them that he James Hawkins and his two little sons are well and indicates that his parents (John Senior & Mary) had wanted the two little boys (perhaps when their mother died).
The said letter is also a report on his South Carolina crops 'cotton & corn hurt by wet weather.'
Possibly James lived on one of his father's farms in South Carolina another quote 'the told me to send some money if I had got any - but I have none as yet.'
