"His father, W.P Hall, was born in eastern Ohio, on the banks of the Ohio River, and his parents dying when he was quite young he was thrown on his own resources, early manifesting those qualities which have endeared him to the citizens of Harrison County. After the death of his parents he resided with Otho French [a resident of Belmont Township, Belmont, Ohio] and was engaged in farming, but soon after he became of age he learned the carpenter's trade, which he followed during the remainder of his life. About the year 1815 he was married to Hannah Tipton, daughter of John Tipton (who was one of the earliest settlers of Harrison County), and after marriage he located in Archer Township, where he resided a short time; then removed to Green Township, where he puchased a farm, on which he died."
