In 1710 Henry Gay purchased 150 acres from Michael Macquinny and his wife Rose. [1] On 25 April 1737 the will of Henry Gay was proven in court held in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. Henry Gay devised his land to be equally divided between his 3 sons Thomas, William, and Joshua Gay.[2] By deed dated 1 December 1746 William Gay sold his 50 acres devised to him in his Father's Will to Joshua Gay. [3]

    William Gay of the county of the Isle of Wight to Joshua Gay of the same county for Ten Pounds Current Money of Virginia a tract of 50 acres in Isle of Wight County described as,

    “being the Land the said William Gay had given him by his Father’s Will.”

    [Signed] William Gay (X) “his mark.” Witnesses: Wm Babb, Charles Norsworthy.

    3 January 1746/7 William Gay received the sum of 10 pounds from Joshua Gay.

    8 January 1746/7 William Gay delivered the property to Joshua Gay in the presence of Wm Babb and was ordered to be recorded by Jas Baker, county clerk.
