BURIAL - WILLIAM SR. FUGATE I believe the Old Square Cement Coffin that is laying on top of the grou nd (very ancient) with cement square lids which can be easily moved off) a re that of the BOTTOM RIGHT: MEMORY of WILLIAM FUGATE as I spoke with so me local Fugate's and they told me that the Fugate Cemetary on Little Syca more Valley Rd., Tazewell, TN, Claiborne County was that of quote' OLD WI LLIAM SR. FUGATE which was the Spouse of SARAH JANE STEVEN my grt-grt-grt- grandparents. Some of his children are even buried here such as William J R. Fugate's wife, Nancy Riley etc; I was told that William SR. Fugate ke pt going back and forth between Virginia and Tazewell, TN, Claiborne Coun ty over the years. That would explain why many researchers don't know wh ere he ended up being buried. It is known as "OLD WILLIAM K. FUGATE FA RM & CEMETERY", Little Sycamore Rd., now owned by Neil Walker Family, 1 mi le from John Newton Fugate in Tazewell, TN, Claiborne Co. who I got the in fo. from abt. it being called "Old William K. Fugate Farm & Cemete ry as I called him on the telephone to inquire abt. where my ggg-grandpare nts where buried and lived up there. John Newton Fugate has held the "Fug ate Reunion" up there over the years.
