Doctor WILLIAM LANE CROSS. He tended area children during typhoid epidemic of 1845, lost severalof his. Allen Cemetery is mostly deaths from 1845 & 1856. Land for cemetery was donated by SUSANNAH LANE CROSS. There is a tradition that he died in Rankin County, MS they are missing in the 1850 Federal Census in Alabama. But his estate records clearly states he died in Shelby County, Alabama. He is buried in family plot, tombstone says "Son of Capt. William Cross". He died in Typhoid epidemic of 1856, treating chidren in area. Shortly afterwards many of the CROSS, GILBERT and others moved to LeakeCounty,, MS (his sister was there) and to HOPE, ARKANSAS area.
