Both are buried in the William Cross Cemetery, near Pelham, Shelby Co.Ala. William Cross was in Franklin Co.,TN. in 1808, where he bought land on the Elk River, owning 3000 acres in all. He sold this in 1816 and moved his family to Shelby Co.Ala. He sold this in 1816 and moved his family to Shelby Co.Ala. The tradition is the family is that the parents of Susannah Lane Cross were William Lane (B.1740;D.1808 in Ga.), a Revolutionary soldier and Nancy Allen Lane (B.1748 in Va.; D.1802-03 in Ga.) of Va. They migrated from Va. to Wilkes Co.,Ga.about 1793. Susannah married William Cross against her father's wishes and he disowned her, so the tradition goes.
