Barron grew up in Nashua, New Hampshire with his brother, Andrew, in a house full of women. His parents were legally separated when he was young. His mother rented rooms out and had several sisters who were there much of the time doting on the lads.
As it were, he grew to be a handsome young man with a talent to charm the ladies.
Barron became a musician. He had a fifteen piece band in the 1930's and travelled all over Europe with it. Ship's Manifests for the ship "Leviathan" shows him returning to the United States in November and December of 1932. After returning from Europe, he played at Crooked Lake Hotel in New York state. An addition was built onto Crooked Lake Hotel in 1938. With the addition, they had a capacity of 600 and had all the popular Big Bands play there including Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman and The Dorsey Brothers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I was a young boy, I went with my mother and father to Crooked Lake where my father had a gig with his band. Sometimes, he would have me come up on stage and conduct the band. I didn't really know how to conduct, but I would go through the motions, and people seemed to enjoy it.

I don't remember much about my grandfather. He and my grandmother were divorced when my father was a boy, and I only remember going to visit him once in Brighton, Massachusetts. It was a small apartment and I remember thinking it was kind of dimly lit. It seemed to me to be rather sparsely furnished. His wife, Connie, tried to be friendly and accomodating, but I don't remember liking her very much. I think I was about ten or eleven.
