Facts and Events
William Cook's origins have yet to be established. The age given when he died suggests he was born around 1753. William's first confirmed sighting is on 16th January 1775, when he married Elizabeth Smyth at Flitton in Bedfordshire. After their marriage they moved about seven miles north-west to Husborne Crawley, where they had four children baptised between 1776 and 1792. Their youngest daughter died in 1796, aged three. Elizabeth died in 1797. Two years later, on 18th November 1799, William married again. His second wife was a widow called Ann Lord, formerly Foskett, and they married at Husborne Crawley. They did not have any further children. William's first known grandchild was born in 1811, and he had at least seven grandchildren born in his lifetime. Ann died in 1818, aged 66. William survived her by nearly nine years. He was buried at Husborne Crawley on 10th August 1827, when he was said to be 74 years old. References
