BIOGRAPHY: Wm. Blackfan rec'd a title, issued by the Dixon, IL Land Office on 1 May 1843 for 40 acres on the NW 1/4 of NW 1/4, Sec 27, Twp. 16, Range 1 East of 4th Principle Meridian. According to "History of Henry County Illinois", Vol. II, by Kiner, the 40 acres mentioned above, where part of Orion, IL now stands. The book says he arrived in Stevenson [now Rock Island, name was changed in 1841] via steam boat on 3 May 1841. Jeremy Jordan has the original land certificate, matted and framed, which is listed as BLM Accession/Serial #IL4450_.72, Document #11870. According to "Hist. of Orion, IL", 1953, he arrived in Western Twp., Henry Co. on 3 May 1841, from Bucks Co., PA, via canal & stage to Pittsburgh, then via steamboat on Ohio & Mississippi Rivers, 3 weeks duration. He was accompanied by his wife + son William [RIN-134], daughter Elizabeth [RIN-135] & Susan Trego [RIN-858], niece of Elizabeth K. Trego [RIN-60] Blackfan. See record for Susan Trego. Wm. Blackfan is the gg-Grandfather [2GGF] of Jeremy Jordan. He was a member of the LaGrange Lyceum, Western Twp., Henry Co., Il. Elizabeth Trego (Blackfan) Lippincott mentions in a letter in posession of Jeremy Jordan, about an Eastburn Genealogy that she recalls being in the bottom of a chest that was brought to IL from Bucks Co., PA in 1841 and that may still be in posession of Byron Jordan of Orion. On the bottom of that chest was Elizabeth T. B. Lippincott's Father's name, Wm. Blackfan and directing it to Stephenson, IL.

DEATH: Death date per Western Cem. Inscription book, while the date of 10 Nov 1843 was seen elsewhere, is apparently in error.
