(3) Revolutionar y War declaration made Jul 1834 by Samuel Bell in application for pen sion, Augusta Co., VA, mentions service with Andrew Anderson, Willia m Anderson and others. Samuel Bell entered the VA line on Continenta l establishment 8 Mar 1777, was ensign in Capt. McGuire's Co. attache d to 16th Regiment commanded by Col. William Grayson. Promoted to Lt. , Capt. Thomas Bell's Co. in same regiment. Was at Battle of Brandywi ne, Germantown, Guilford, Hotwater. (4) 1779, 4 Mar: His father's will states "in case he return from h is journey."
