He was in love with a young woman back in Wayne county, IN. They were to be married soon, when he met with an accident which threatened to disfigure his face. The engagement was broken and the brothers (Robert & William), went to Hamilton Co., IN. The disfigurement healed, but by then the young lady had married. William remained a bachelor, and never returned to his old home.
