Facts and Events
Friedrich Wilhelm Thiede March 8, 1836 in Helpe, Arnswalde Prussia. He had one brother that I know of, Herman Julius Thiede. Fred was married December 27, 1864 in Prussia to Henriette Kersten. Due to the unrest in Prussia caused by the impending unification in 1871 by Otto Von Bismarck, a decision was made to emigrate to Nord-Amerika. Herman left first and arrived in Carver County, Minnesota, United States in 1865. Five years later, Friedrich and his family left Prussia headed for Nord-Amerika. They left through Brandenburg, Prussia. Also going were his wife Henriette, son Hermann Julius Thiede born circa 1865, August Wilhelm Robert Thiede Born December 16, 1866. Also Henriette was pregnant with a child due to be born on the Atlantic Ocean on board ship. Gotlieb Wilhelm Johannes Thiede was born March 25, 1869, according to the declaration document. They arrived on May 15, 1869 in the Port of New York on the ship Christel. I found them on the ships' manifest dated May 14, 1869. Also Henriette's parents, Johann Friedrich and Louise Kersten. Also two brothers, Gottlieb Kersten and Wilhelm Kersten came with them. Friedrich and Henrietta arrived in Carver of Carver County, Minnesota. Some time before then, Herman Julius Thiede died at the age of 4. Friederich and Henriette and two children were in Carver of Carver County. Their last name was spelled as Thedy. While living in Carver, another little girl, Anna M.F. Thiede was born on April 27, 1872. I found her with them in the 1875 Minnesota State population census for Carver of Carver County. The little girl died in October of 1876. She is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery city of Carver, Township 115N, Range 23W, and Section 18. Her name is spelled Thiebe(?). I am very sure that this should be spelled Thiede. Later in 1876 they moved on to Maine Prairie Township of Stearns County coming to Kimball. Another child was born to them on December 18,1877. It was a girl They named her Matilde Louise Thiede. It was during this time that a number of events made life very interesting for people in Minnesota. The main one was the demise of Colonel Custer and his men at the Little Big Horn in Montana on June 26, 1876. It is hard to imagine what they thought after the massacre. Did they carry rifles around, and board up windows? On October 20, 1897, Friedrich died. He did live to see his son John marry Anna Wilhelmine Ludtke on June 30, 1896. Friedrich's wife Henriett married Gottlieb Lambrecht on October 2, 1905 and they moved to South Haven of Wright County. I found them in the 1910 Census for Wright County, South Haven Village. She lived there until 1919, when she moved to the Evangelical Lutheran Home for the aged in Shakopee, Minnesota, where she died on May 11, 1920. She was buried in the home's cemetery. This data was from the her death certificate from the MHS death certificate records. Gottlieb moved back to South Haven, Wright County, where he died July 14, 1924 and is buried in South Haven.
