Some sources give a "Werner IV" as the father of "Werner V", count in Nahegau, the first historically ascertained ancestor of the Salian dynasty.

It is possible that this Werner IV is identical with Walaho IV, who was count in Wormsgau after 840.

Walaho IV. (Werner IV), son of Werner III, is attested 891 as count in Wormsgau and Nahegau, and in 906 as count in Speyergau. It is possible that he married several times, but it is also possible that several Werners are conflated by the chroniclers. Wives attributed to Werner IV / Walaho IV are:
