Sone of Henry (Grad of Queen's Univ., Kingston, Ontario and M.P. 1887-1903) and Margaret (Davidson). Educated Public School Nassagayewa Twp; Galt Coll. Inst. (under Dr. Tassle); high school Guelph, Ont.; married Elizabeth, dau. of James Kyle, Cheasley, Ont., 10 June 1891; children, Mrs. C.H. Charls, Mrs. Phyllis C. Wise; began as clerk in father's store, Cargill, Ontario, 1880-83; later became bookkeeper; pertner with father as H. Cargill and Son, 1886-1911; then operated it under name of Cargill Ltd., 1911- 32; has carried on privately since 1932 in milling and lumbering business; 1st lieut.
