Petition, Volume XI, Number 1518 Naturalization No. 1488043 Came to US on the Graf Waldereeze out of Hamburg, Germany First resided at 76 Albany Street, Poughkeepsie, NY My nickname for Grandpa was BaBa Was known to everyone else as "Charley". Many coming from the OldCountry were known as Charley or William. I remember that Wasyl (Grandpa) had the largest hands I have ever seen.He seemed so tall, but records say about 5'11". I think he was tallerthan that (Raymond was 6') I only remember him with snow white hair. Every Sunday he would dress ina white shirt and tie, Otherwise he always seemed to be wearing blueshirts and black pants. I remember watching him shave with a straightrazor (many of which I have) down in the basement of 81 Talmadge St.where he had his mirror and leather strap to sharpen the razor. Grandpa was such a memorable man. He used to take me to the Moose Club.I have a pin from there that Aunt Dena had made into a charm. When Ivisited, he would take me down the street at 4:00 PM to the local pub.He would have 1 beer and I would have a soda. Then we would turn aroundand walk back to the store and have dinner with Minnie (Grandma Humenick) I remember him carrying 3 cases of large glass soda bottles upstairs atone time. First lived in Mahanoy City on 1119 Pine St. with his cousen Metro. After coming to Poughkeepsie, He worked in a Cigar factory off Main St.near Cherry St., he then worked for Collingwood & Seaman, deliveringcoal. He carried 60lb. bags on his back to the coal shoots of houses.
