Wanna laverne Queen Tarbet On Apr 2, 1941 Wanna married Thomas Hendrix Tarbet, a preacher for the Church of Christ. For almost 40 years she supported him in his work, raising their family, teaching classes in church, and following him wherever he went. She often opened her home to entertain members of her congration and other meetings and activities. Wanna was an accomplished piano player and teacher, and taught piano lessons in her home for many years. Her students included her children who continue to use the skill she taught them. She was an excellent seamstress, often making clothes for her husband and her two sons, and made her daughter's wedding gown. She was also a skilled artist, and many of her pieces are still displayed in the homes of her children. She also authored a book and many short stories. She gave many public speeches as a member of the Toastmistress club., and as a Bible teacher. Wanna died of a heart attack in her home in Texas on Sep 28, 1980. She is buried in Vernon Texas next to her husband. |
