Walter D. Whipple, son of George and Belle Whipple was born in 14 May 1857, a year after his parents moved to Burlington, Iowa. He married Mary Hare and operated a hardware business with his father. Walter died on 23 August 1897 and is buried in the Whipple family plot along with his wife in the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, Iowa. The 1900 census shows that Mary married a second time to James C. Latham. The son of Walter and Mary was living with his mother and step-father in Burlington in 1900.
