"… Timothy Baldwin, son of Richard and Isabel Baldwin, who died in the 'night following january 17: 1664' in Milford, Connecticut (First Church book 1:2).
Timothy Baldwin wrote a will, dated 31 January 1664, that names his eldest daughter Mary Smith, wife of Benjamin Smith; daughter Hannah Baldwin; daughter Sarah Buckingham; son Timothy Baldwin; three grandchildren [unnamed]; his wife's son John Mappam; pastor Mr. Newton; servant Jeremie Andros; and his wife [unnamed]. The will appoints as overseers Mr. Benjamin Fenn, Deacon Clarke, George Clarke, Jr., and Samuel Coley to assist the executrix |unnamed|. It was witnessed by George Clarke, Sr., and George Clarke, Jr. It was proved in Milford (Connecticut Colonial Court Records, 3:22-24, FHL 0004572, no original found, only this copy in the probate record book). The inventory, apparently taken in February 1664, was exhibited in court 2 March 1664/5; after debts it amounted to £407:04:11. The appraisors listed items room-by-room, so we know the home had a parlour, chamber, a lean-to, and cellar. Timothy's clothing was worth £12, his books £3, his horses and mares £93. His housing and homelot were valued at £80; other land and meadows at £134:17:06. and hogs at £4 (Connecticut Colonial Court Records 3:23-24)."

Baldwin, Timothy, Milford. Invt. £529-18-06. Taken 6th February, 1664, by Alexander Bryant, George Clarke sen, John Clarke. Will dated 31 January, 1664-5: I Timothy Baldwin of Milford do make this my last Will and Testament: I give to my eldest daughter Mary Smith, the wife of Benjamin Smith, Lands adjoyning Samuel Buckingham and John Lane. Item. I give to my daughter Hannah Baldwin £50. Item. I give to my daughter Sarah Buckingham £50. Item. I give to my son Timothy Baldwin all my houses, Lands and Meadows Lying in Milford that is undisposed of, to enter upon, but two thirds thereof until after the decease of my wife. I give to my three grand children, to each of them, a ewe sheep. Item. I give unto John Mappam, my wive's son, £4 upon this condition, if he be obediant to his mother and carry dutifully towards her. Item. I give unto our Honor Paster, Mr. Newton, £5. I doe give unto my servant Jeremie Andros one sheep when his time is out, to what I have already promised him to be paid by my executrix, in case he carry dutifully to his Dame. I constitute my wife sole executrix, and doe give and bequeath unto her al ye rest of my estate undisposed of, and the Improvement of al my houses, Lands and meadows, till my son Timothy come to ye age of twenty one years. My will is that my son Timothy should be brought up in learning, that he be taught to read and write well. I desire that Mr. Benjamin Fenn, Deacon Clarke, George Clarke Jr and Samuil Coley be overseers.
