CALHOUN CHRONICLE, Grantsville, WV 26147 Compiled by Norma Knotts Shaffer 10/15/98 Thurl Ray "T.R." Chenoweth, 99, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 1998, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg. He was born at Nicut, the son of the late David and Mary Jane Knotts Chenoweth. He was a graduate of Calhoun County High School and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. During the early 1930s, he was construction superintendent for Rt. 16 in Clay County. In the late 1930s, he owned and operated an oil and gas trucking company, and in the early 1940s, he was co-owner of Litman Motor Freight. Later in the 1940s, he was owner of Chenoweth Wheeler Real Estate Agency. From 1950-1975, he was a cotton farmer in Pecos, Tex. Upon retirement in 1976, he and his wife returned to Parkersburg. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Parsons Chenoweth; one son, Robert Chenoweth of Mendham, N.J.; six grandchildren, Russell E. Jones of Washington, Mary Jane Jones of Parkersburg, Amy Bryant and Tracy Bickhaus, both of Frisco, Tex., and Whitney Chenoweth and Rachael Chenoweth, both of Mendham; six great-grandchildren, Brittany Bickhaus, Luke Bryant, Emily Bryant and Lauren Bickhaus, all of Frisco, and Kirsten Jones and Allison Jones, both of Washington; one brother, J. Wesley Chenoweth of Parkersburg; and one sister, Etta C. Wheeler of Parkersburg. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Etta Chenoweth Jones; four brothers, Robert, Carl, David W. and Denver O. Chenoweth; and two infant brothers. Services were held at Ogdin-Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. David Freshour officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. References
