    20 Jul 1717: Request of Elizabeth Very that her son Joseph Very be granted administration of all the estate that was my husbands.
    22 Jul 1717: Bond of Joseph Verry of Salem as admin. of Thomas Verry Late of Salem Dec'd Intestate.
    26 Feb 1721/22: Inventory of Thomas Verry yeoman deceased: Not totalled by Samuel King and Ezekiel Goldthwayt [appears to be real estate only].
    15 Oct 1729: set off to widdow her right of dower, remainder will admit of no divisions. Reverse has judge's notes: 2/3 to be divided into 5 shares, to Joseph Very eldest son 2 parts; to Thorndick Very, Elizabeth Very, to [unreadable, possible "Eles"] King each one part.

    31 Oct 1729: Distribution of estate, "clear of charges", £100 divided among children: to Joseph Very eldest son 2 share, to Thorndick Very, Elizabeth Very, Emma [sic] Very, each 1 share.

    14 Nov 1735: Warrant to appraise real estate of Tho's Verry late of Salem Dec'd w'ch was formerly layd out to his Widow Eliz'a Verry as her right of Dower.
    Undated, appraisal 12 Mar 1736, accepted 14 Jun 1736: Appraisal and division into four parts of real estate of Thomas Very Dec'd laid out to Eliz'a Very as her right of Dower. Joseph the eldest sone refusing to make a Redemption settled on ye four chilldreen [lists only Joseph and Thorndick].

  3. Based on the birth order given by Perley, the first known birthdate is sixth child Jonathan, b. 1659. Working back to second child Thomas, each birth two years apart, yields an estimate of about 1651.
  4. The baptism of the three youngest children on 1 Oct 1704 calls his wife a widow. The probate appears to have waited until 1717 when the oldest son had became of legal age, for the purpose of distributing real estate.
