Thomas Reichart arrived in the port of Phila, Penn. with his family and brother Jacob Reichart on the ship" Patience" on Sept. 19 1749--He applied for and was granted a land grant in what is known as Newberry County South Carolina of today . Newberry County is located North of present day Columbia S. C. During the Immigration process the name Reichart which was written and spelled in German/Dutch was changed to Rickard/ Rikard the English version of the name.
