Thomas Monroe Jones, son of Horace and Mary (Cockefair) Jones was born on 9 August 1877 in Anderson (Madison County), Indiana. He graduated from Heidelberg University in Ohio in 1898. He was also a graduate of the Indiana State University and graduated from Johns Hopkins University medical school in 1902. In 1905 he married Elizabeth Shields Baker. Elizabeth was born in Winchester, Virginia. In August, 1917, he volunteered for the war and was commissioned as a captain in the Medical Reserve Corps. He served in Winchester, England and Tours, France. . His biography in a county history says that he was a well-known physician and leading surgeon and was known as a goiter specialist. |
