The area reserved was 5 acres fronting Reserve Street. The Eaglehawk Old Monumental Section is laid out in orderly rectangular plats. It has all denominations and a Paupers section. There are many magnificent trees lining the roadways such as Bunya Pines, Morton Bay Figs, Oak, Hoop Pine, Canary Island Pine and Silky Oak. The first recorded burial at the Eaglehawk Cemetery is that of 21 year old John Edmond McDonough. He was interred in Grave 1 Section C on 6th July 1864. Today there is still a monument standing that was erected in his memory. There have been 6 Sextons live in the Sextons Residence formerly located near the front gates of the old monumental section. The cottage was built in the 1870's and was demolished in the 1970's. |

- ↑ Henderson - The friends of the late Mr. Thomas William Henderson are respectfully invited to follow his remains to the Eaglehawk Cemetery. Funeral will move from his late residence Junction Street, Eaglehawk on Thursday Afternoon May 23 at four o'clock William Farmer Undertaker.

- ↑ Henderson - A large and representative gathering of friends and relatives and members of the Eaglehawk football club, ANA Lodge, Eaglehawk Band and work mates from the Hercules mines attended the funeral of the late Mr. Thomas William Henderson, which took place yesterday to Eaglehawk cemetery from his residence Junction Street, Eaglehawk. the casket was carried to the grave by Messrs. Stanley, Thomas, Jack, Robert and George (brothers) and Mr.Chas. Brewster (brother in law).The pall bearers were Messrs. P.Kelly (ANA Lodge) W:Bengough, H.Maher (underground manager Hercules mine) W:Porter (Eaglehawk Bandmaster) P. Williams, J.Finch, A.Ludeman, T:Thies (Eaglehawk football club mates)- the service in the home and at the grave were conducted by the Rev. L.L.Lovell. Mr. Wm. Farmer carried out the funeral.
