!BIRTH-MARRIAGE: From e-mail from George Ewing to Dean Busby 6 Aug 2000. ([email protected]). BIOGRAPHICAL: From "Ewing in Early America," Part I, by Margaret Ewing Fife, p. 66. He married 29 Sep 1798 to Ediah or Adah/Ada Crawford, daughter of John Crawford. John McGinnis was "surety" and was the minister at the wedding. Rev. John McGinnis was his brother-in-law, mentioned inhis mothers's will of 1798. LAND: 1793, 6 Sep. (Frederick Co., VA Deed Book V1, SC 2, p. 69) "John Ewing and Ester his wife sell to Thomas Ewing 100 a. for 5 pounds land John received from his father, William, who died intestate in 1781, which had been conveyed by Patent from Lord Fairfax to William Ewing." 1796 - Thomas Ewing paid tax on 100 a. (a second Thomas Ewing paid tax as Thomas Ewins of Hannah Lupton on 300 a. 1780 - Zebulon Tharp died and his will leaves Elizabeth Ewing 140 a. in Frederick Co., VA in the area of Stephensburg which is part of land mentioned in her will of 1795. 1816, 24 Jul, (Frederick Co., VA Wills) shows probate of will of Elizabeth Ewing wirtten 20 Jul 1795 "a surveyor to be hired to divide land equally and pay balance of William Ewing estate due to Thomas and Jany Ewing..Samuel, son, executor." 1825, 23 Jun (Frederick Co., VA Deed Book 52, p. 69) -recorded on part of a tract of land of 140 a. joining Samuel Ewing, which was Thomas Ewing's interest by the death of his sister, Elizabeth McGinnis and said sister by will of their mother." WILL: Thomas Ewing wrote his will (Warren Co., VA Wills - probated 17 Sep 1849) - Warren Co. was taken from Frederick Co. prior to this date. |
