Obituary of Thomas Manley Cornelius Unknown Newspaper Elk City, Beckham Co., Oklahoma (September 18-20, 1953) "FUNERAL FOR PIONEER IS SET SUNDAY Funeral services for Thomas M. Cornelius, pioneer farmer and rancher of the Springcreek community, who died Friday morning at an Elk City hospital will be held Sunday at 2:30 o'clock at the Springcreek Baptist Church with Rev. Dewey Horton officiating. Mr. Cornelius came to Western Oklahoma in 1915 and settled in the Springcreek community and has made his home in that community since. He came here from Hobart. He was a pioneer cattleman of this country. He has been a member of the Springcreek Baptist church for the past 35 years. He is survived by his wife of the home address; four daughters, Mrs. Alford Thomas, Stockton, Calif., Mrs. herman Bell, Gustine, Calif., Mrs. Donnell Lowrance, Lawton, and Mrs. Leo D. Ward, Elk City; three sons, Carl Cornelius, Wyoming; Curtis Cornelius, Willow, and Guy Cornelius, Willow; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Rogers, Lewisburg, Tenn., Mrs. Lula Ragsdale, Oneonta, Alabama and Mrs. J. M. Phillips, Pinson, Alabama and a brother, John Cornelius of Pinson, Alabama. Eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren also survive. Casket bearers will be Danny Lowrance, Uan Mannen, Clarence Smith, Jack Lowrance, Luther Simmons, and O.M. Lee. Burial will be in the Springcreek cemetery with Moore Funeral home in charge."
