Facts and Events
Thomas Chaffer was baptised on 10th December 1837 at Sidlesham in Sussex, son of Sarah Chaffer, formerly Artlett, and her husband William Chaffer, an agricultural labourer. Thomas appears in the 1841 census living with his parents and siblings at Highleigh (or Highly as it was then spelt) in Sidlesham. Thomas was still with his parents in 1851, when he was described as a labourer. Sadly he died a couple of years later, aged just fifteen. He was buried at Sidlesham on 7th August 1853.
