Theodore Walter Todd. Born October 20, 1964. Always known as "Walter." Graduated from Monmouth College with an A. B. in 1888. Studied law at the University of Michigan, graduating with an LL.B. in 1891, and for some years practiced in Monmouth as a member of the legal firm of Norcross, Todd and Hanna. From 1900 -1921 he was head of the German department of Washburn Collge, Topeka, KS. At various times during this period he spent three academic quarters at the Universities of Berlin and Marburg, Germany. He married Helen Morton, who was instructor in Mathematics at Washburn. They were married in her home in Tescott, KS, June 18, 1907. In 1921 they moved to California and he took graduate work at Stanford, graduating in 1922 with the degree of A.M. in English. In 1947 he and his wife were living on a fruit ranch at Palo Alto, CA. He died 8 Sept 1957 in Palo Alto, CA, at age of 92 years and 10 months, having outlived all his siblings.
