17 Nov 1898, p 3 - One of the old and best known citizens of Cambridge City passed away when Theodore Frohnapfel died. The sad event occurred Tuesday evening about 9 o'clock. After months of suffering, nature yielded the functions of life and the conscious element of existence returned to its Creator. Mr. Frohnapfel was a native of Germany. He was born May 9, 1836, at The Wehl, in Eversburg Wiers, Kingdom of Bavaria, and lived 62 years, 6 months and 6 days. He entered the army at the customary age in that country and served six years under King Ludwig. Afterward he came to America and April 19, 1864, he married his now mourning widow. He came to Cambridge City, August 26, 1865, and has lived here ever since save about three years, when he lived in Richmond. January 10, 1870, he engaged in the grocery business on the site now occupied by R.W. Hall, and continued in that line of trade until July 20, 1891, when he was succeeded by his son, Frank T. Frohnapfel. Such is a brief sketch of the life of one of our best citizens, but it tells naught of his real worth, and it is doubtful if many ever realized the full measure of his usefulness. He was always busy. He had a kind word for everybody, and a generous hand for worthy enterprises, private or public. He was the soul of honor, benevolent and patriotic. His surviving family consists of his wife and three children - Mrs. J.A. Munchoff, of Anderson, and Catherine Emily and Frank T. Frohnapfel, of this city. To them the sympathy of many friends is extended. Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, at St. Elizabeth church, at 9 o'clock. Friends of the family are requested to attend. Al who desire to view the remains will please call at the family residence after 2 o'clock this afternoon.
